Mississippi Mist Fountain Muscatine History and Industry Center (Museum)

Come take a walk through time and see how this great river town of Muscatine became known as the “Pearl Button Capital of the World.”
You’ll also catch a glimpse of the growing industries of Muscatine today and get a good idea how they have helped form this growing community.

Mississippi Mist Fountain Mississippi Mist Interactive Fountain

The free waterpark draws thousands of children and adults all year long to splash and frolic in a huge fountain on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Mississippi Harvest Sculpture

This massive work by Eric Blum depicts an early “clammer” using a set of rakes to pull clams from the bed of the Mississippi. Buttons made from the “mother of pearl” interiors of these clams were a source of a huge industry for Muscatine from the late 1800s until World War II.

Pearl City StationPearl City Station

Once a freight depot, now a boarding point for riverboat passengers, Pearl City Station is available to rental for your events. The building is managed by the City Parks and Recreation Department.

Boat HarborBoat Harbor
Home to houseboats and people passing through, the Muscatine Boat Harbor has slips for year-round and weekend rentals. There’s space to tie up while you visit Muscatine for the day.

River Center
Looking for an air conditioned location with a spectacular view of the Mississippi River and the illuminated Muscatine Bridge? The River Center is it! A service kitchen and elevator make food service easy.

Boat Launch

Put in and pull out at the new Muscatine Boat Launch. Nearby support services and  convenient parking make this an ideal spot to start your fun on the River.

Bike Path LightsBike Path

Start your bicycle tour at the “Trail Head Shop” (The Pearl City Depot) and then head for Weed Park or even on to Davenport. Muscatine has a bike path system that’s easy to ride and beautiful to see. Along the way there are plenty of stops for snacks, relaxation and entertainment.

Rainbow BridgeIlluminated Bridge

Make sure you spend an evening at River Park to see the light show on the Beckey Bridge across the Mississippi River. This was the first trans-Mississippi Bridge to be illuminated with thousands of light emitting diodes. Seasonal nightly shows make the trip worthwhile.

Riverfront PlaygroundRiver Park

There’s fun for everyone from one end to the other of this park that stretches for 2 miles along the Mississippi River. Basketball Courts, Frisbee golf, swings and jungle gyms, hiking and biking all await you. There are plenty of fishing spots along the River also.

Second Street

Dozens of shops and eating establishments await you in Downtown Muscatine. Come for breakfast. Stay for supper. And in between find a couple of bargains and priceless treasures!
